BOSTON (WHDH) – Mayor Martin Jr. says Boston will get its economy back on track in three weeks as new corona virus cases and hospitalizations continue to rise. Walsh announced Monday.

“Unfortunately, we are at the point where we need to take strong action to control COVID – 19 in Boston. “By reducing the chances of spreading across the region, we hope to reduce the spread of this deadly virus and maintain the ability to open critical services.”
Hours after the Boston Medical Center received its first corona virus vaccine, Walsh said companies that provide indoor activities such as museums, fisheries, bowling alleys, movie theaters, batting cages and driving limits will be forced to control the spread of the disease. .
“Following the guidelines” will allow indoor restaurants to continue in restaurants, Walsh said. Bar seat is not allowed.
Hair salons, barber shops, offices and retail stores can remain open with capacity restrictions, but Walsh asked employers to allow employees to work from home if they wanted to.
Since Thanksgiving, sick patients have been coming to city hospitals because corona virus measurements are negative, Walsh noted. The percentage of occupied ICU beds in Boston hospitals has reached 90 percent.
The city-wide positive test rate rose to 7.2 percent for the week ended Dec. 6, from 5.2 percent the previous week.
“Today’s comeback is about making personal sacrifices for the greater good,” Walsh said. “Our goal is to reduce these numbers.”
Walsh says Lynn, Newton, Somerville, Procton, Winthrop, and Arlington are also participating in the rollback.
Walsh appealed to all residents to refrain from attending or entertaining holiday home parties.
“I sound the alarm and let people know how serious this is,” Walsh said. “This is real to us.”
Between November 8 and December 5, there were 12,583 new home clusters across the Commonwealth, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Those clusters led to 31,921 confirmed corona virus cases.
Last week, the government announced that Charlie Baker had embraced State 1 for Phase 3, but Boston chose not to cross that step in July.
