Marvin Hagler, who was once a middleweight champion in the 1970s and 1980s, died this Saturday, March 13, at the age of 66. The sad news that mourns thousands of his followers, was announced by his wife through social media.

“Legendary American boxer Marvin Hagler, the undisputed middleweight champion between 1980 and 1987, died at the age of 66, his wife reported on Saturday,” Agence France-Presse reported.

“I am very sorry to give you this sad news. Today unfortunately my dear husband died unexpectedly at home in New Hampshire. I ask for privacy during such a complicated time,” wrote his wife, Kay G. Hagler.

The most memorable fight was against Tommy Hearns in 1985, better known as The War. Hagler, managed to conquer 62 victories in 67 fights, 52 of these triumphs were by the short route.
