At least three people were killed and three others injured Monday after a heavily armed group of criminals invaded the Brazilian city of Araçatuba, in the interior of Sao Paulo (Brazil), to commit a series of bank robberies, Confirmed the mayor of the city, Dilador Borges.

The criminals invaded the city shortly after midnight on Monday, August 30, they took some hostages and placed explosives in several points to commit the assaults in a region that concentrates several banking branches the locality located to about 500 kilometers of the paulista capital.
According to videos posted by neighbors on social media, some people were tied to the hood of the car as a “human shield” during the escape of criminals.

“It was a night of horror“, Borges described in an interview on ‘CBN’ radio.
Authorities did not report the identities of the victims, although the mayor specified that at least one of them would be one of the offenders who was injured and was “abandoned” by his colleagues during the escape.
According to the Sao Paulo Security Secretariat, at least two people were arrested so far.
