One of the most important trades in the history of Detroit Lions is now officially completed. The deal brought by QB Jared Goff and a number of picks in Detroit in exchange for QB Matthew Stafford officially reached the NFL books and transaction cable on Thursday.
As a result, we now know the draft pickup compensation the Lions recover in the deal.
According to the NFL Transaction Record, the Rams send the Lions their first-round picks in 2022 and 2023. That is well known. It is the choice of the third round of 2021 that has been the issue. It will be a compensatory selection and not the regular selection of the Rams.
Los Angeles has two compass selections in the third round and the exact selection is not explicitly listed in the transaction log. So instead of the number 88 in general, it’s the number 101 or the number 103.
Processing of the deal was delayed by a day, so the Rams would be responsible for the $ 2.5 million list bonus from Goff’s contract. This could have taken into account the negotiations for which the selection of the third round in Detroit ends.
As for contracts, Goff will earn $ 25,650,000 in 2021, all but $ 650,000 fully guaranteed. The Lions are officially hooked on $ 33 million in dead capital money to negotiate Stafford’s contract, for Over The Cap.
