According to an incident report provided by Missouri Kansas City Police Department police, a car ran out of gas on a ramp on Kansas City Interstate 435 Thursday night. After the driver called for help from relatives, a second car arrived, which was also parked on the ramp.
According to the police report, a third car, which Kansas City KSHB television says was driving Britt Reid, first arrived and struck the left side of the disabled vehicle and crashed into the back of the second vehicle, where the 5 -an old boy was going in the back seat along with a 4-year-old boy, who was also taken by ambulance to a hospital in the area, but with non-fatal injuries.
The station said Reid admitted to police driving the car, according to a search warrant.
“The organization has been informed of a multi-vehicle accident that affected Linebackers outside coach Britt Reid,” the chiefs said in a statement on Friday. “We are in the process of gathering information and we will have no further comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”
None of the people involved in the multi-car accident are identified by their name in the police report.
According to police, the driver of the third car suffered non-fatal injuries and was being investigated for deterioration.
The driver of the disabled vehicle was inside the car at the time of the first collision, but was not injured, according to the police report, and the driver of the second vehicle and an adult passenger in the front seat they were not injured either.
Reid was scheduled to leave Saturday with the Chiefs for the Super Bowl LV against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of Tampa, Florida.
