Britt Reid is no longer part of the Chiefs coaching staff

Britt Reid is no longer a member of the Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff.

The 35-year-old son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was on leave during the term of his contract, which has expired since then, meaning he is no longer an employee of the club. ESPN reported Wednesday.

Chiefs announced Tuesday that Britt Reid was on administrative leave during an investigation into a car accident that left two young children injured, a critic.

Britt Reid was involved in a multi-vehicle accident Thursday near the team’s training facilities next to Arrowhead Stadium. He didn’t travel to the Tampa Bay Super Bowl, where they lost to the Chiefs 31-9.

He told police he had “two or three drinks” and had a prescription for Adderall when the crash occurred, according to a search warrant filed Thursday night. Police have said they are investigating whether Reid, who already had a drunk driving conviction prior to his history, was deteriorating before the crash.

The NFL is investigating whether Reid violated the league’s personal conduct policy.

Ariel Young, 5, was identified by bosses as the girl in the crash and remains in critical condition as of Tuesday. The team also said they have contacted their family and are providing support and resources.

Kansas City police said the crash happened just after 9 p.m., when a truck crashed into two vehicles next to a highway entrance ramp. They also said that a report on the investigation will be published within 30 to 60 days.

After the Chiefs ’defeat at the Suoer Bowl on Sunday, Andy Reid spoke on the subject for the first time.

“My heart goes out to those involved, to the family of these girls who are fighting for their lives,” Reid said. “From a human point of view, my heart bleeds for them.”

Thursday’s crash wasn’t the first time the tragedy has affected Andy Reid’s family.

Her son, Garrett, died at the age of 29 from an accidental drug overdose during the Eagles training camp in 2012. Britt was sentenced to 8 to 23 months in prison and five months probation on charges of weapons and drugs in 2007.
