Brooklyn Nets ruled out Kevin Durant against the New Orleans Pelicans with a bruise on his thigh

Nets star Kevin Durant will miss the Brooklyn game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday as he continues to struggle with a left thigh contusion.

The Nets’ big men, Nic Claxton and Reggie Perry, have been classified in the league’s safety and health protocols and will also miss Tuesday’s game in New Orleans.

The Nets have ruled out a total of seven players for Tuesday’s game: Durant, Claxton, Perry, James Harden (hamstring), Tyler Johnson (knee pain), Chris Chiozza (fractured right hand) and Spencer Dinwiddie (ACL) .

Durant played four minutes for the Nets’ 109-107 loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday before being forced to leave early in the first quarter. He seemed to be tangled up with Trevor Ariza’s Miami when he headed to the basket for a placement.

After the game, Nets coach Steve Nash said Durant was “sore” and the team would reassess him in the morning before determining his status for Tuesday. Durant continues on the Nets road trip.

During this season he has lost 24 of Brooklyn’s 57 games. He was placed twice in the league’s safety and health protocols and lost just one week in both cases. Durant then lost nearly two months with a right hamstring strain. He had just returned from that injury on April 8 and was playing his normal minutes again.

Harden, who has missed two weeks with a right hamstring strain, continues to work toward a comeback.

“We keep moving forward – without any incident – we keep moving closer to his return,” Nash said Sunday.
