And when they walked into Kansas City and had their heads in a strangled place for three-quarters, it looked like they were finally going to take a step in the right direction. Needless to say, they folded like a lawn chair at a family reunion in the fourth quarter, losing against KC 33-29
Whenever you play Patrick Mahomes with a frog voice and Kansas City bosses, you know the margin for error is small, especially when they’re in attack mode and coming back from behind. Baker Mayfield and the Browns played tan well into the last quarter. There’s no denying that the Browns are one of the best teams in the NFL, but they just don’t have it “Is” factor still as the bosses do.
It’s like when Popeyes came out with his popular chicken sandwich and some people thought he’d make a run at Chick-Fil-A for the crown of fast food chicken franchises. We realized very quickly how irrational that thought was. This is the same. The Browns are Popeyes and this year’s list is a tasty chicken sandwich that will be good, but will it ever be enough to beat Chick-Fil-A ??
Bosses know how to make plays when they matter most. They are one of those teams that only have DNA at the championship level. This is where they differ from almost every other team in the league. And this is where the Browns have to get. We can talk about everything we want about the Mayfield selection at the end of the game or about the forgotten pointer about how to use your hands to catch the crash at the end of the game, but the problem is bigger than these two plays. They have achieved that DNA and that trust as a team.
As for the bosses, every year the teams sink and desperately need help to improve that defense. Not only can they trust Muhammad to be a Marvel character and save their universe every time they enter a difficult place.
