One of the most attractive free agents on the market once the signing period opens on March 17 will be Lavonte David. The Buccaneers ’fast-paced and clever defender has many contenders after his prominent role in helping Tampa Bay win the Super Bowl LV.
And according to a report by Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, the Cleveland Browns will be one of the teams chasing David. Cabot points out that sources have told him that the Browns will have an interest in David as the team’s main goal in free agency.
David will not come cheap. The 31-year-old has recorded at least 100 tackles in eight of his nine NFL seasons, all in Tampa Bay. David had 117 attacks, an INT, a sack, three forced fumbles, 12 loss attacks and six PDs in 2020.
However, there is a strong market for free agents to linebacker. The Browns have not prioritized spending on GM Andrew Berry’s position. But adding speed and versatility to the position is a major need of the offseason, perhaps David will attract the Browns ’great interest.
