Today, the NFL Players Association announced (via Twitter) the salary cap of the 32 NFL teams for the 2021 season. Indeed, teams are able to change their unused cap from the previous season. Therefore, when the 2021 salary cap numbers are official, they can be added to each team’s relief amount to determine the individual club’s official 2021 limit.
This follows news from before today that the NFL has raised its salary cap to $ 180MM by 2021. This total could let us know the maximum salary cap, which could end up landing north of $ 190MM. The salary cap was $ 198.2 million for the 2020 campaign.
As detailed by the NFLPA, the league will recover $ 315.1 million by the 2020 season, an average of $ 9.8 million per team. The Browns lead the league with a whopping $ 30.4 million and are the only team in the top five to make the playoffs. NFC East ($ 68.8 million) and AFC East ($ 65.3 million) are the two divisions with the largest transfer amounts.
