Bin 2018, the K-pop group BTS performed a pre-recorded segment for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve Rockin celebration to sound the new year. Two years later, for 2021, the superpopular supergroup increased the lead, performing in Manhattan in Times Square live to perform live for the masses waiting for the ball to fall at the famous Cape Town event. And the South Korean boys band didn’t disappoint, delighting ARMY (as their fans are known) with performances of “Make It Right” and “Boy with Luv”.
It’s safe to say that social media was pretty excited about the performance.
Post Malone was the official headliner for the nightly parties, along with country singer Sam Hunt and Alanis Morisette with the cast of the new Broadway musical Small toothed pill during the additional five hours of broadcast. But the shouts of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook from BTS speak for themselves about the popularity of the septet among the live crowd. The evening was also sponsored by YouTube, a platform where BTS is known to break records with its intricate music videos, full of dance choreography.
2020 was a milestone year for BTS: they acted Saturday night live, exhausted stadiums around the world, with three stairs Billboard the number one one-year albums (tying a Beatles record in the process) appeared on TIME 100 and collaborated with stars such as Halsey (on “Boy With Luv”) and Lauv (on “Make It Right”). . (They also took a short break somewhere out there.) Their ARMY fan helped propel them to the third in a row. Billboard Award of most important social artists and have continued to dominate the Korean awards. Given its momentum, in 2021 fans and listeners can expect more of the same.
