Through a propaganda video broadcast on Sunday night, the president reported that he will veto the reallocations of funds made by the Assembly during the morning of December 24.
President Nayib Bukele will sanction some of the decrees passed by the Assembly around the 2021 General Budget of the Nation and veto others that contain readjustments of items, but did not specify which ones.
The announcement was made through a propaganda video disseminated through its social networks, in which it confirms that it will endorse the increase in minimum pensions from $ 204 to $ 304 per month which the deputies did by agreement of ARENA, FMLN and PDC.

However, in the video the Government attributes to the deputies the changes made to the project sent by the Treasury and hinted that it will veto the part in which the Assembly guaranteed the payment of the Fodes to the mayors.
In the video he also states that the Government hopes to readjust the 2021 Budget in May, when the new Assembly enters as the Executive figures its hopes on the support that polls reflect towards officialdom.
The draft budget that was presented last September 30 by the Minister of Finance, Alejandro Zelaya, had some financial cuts, one of these adjustments was made to the items of government consulting and advertising, CEPA, National Lottery Charity, CIFCO and other institutions.
Expenditure cuts were also made in Capres, OIE, Army and Secretary of Communications. With all these cuts they managed to reduce the budget deficit to $ 138.7 million.
Among the reorientations approved in the budget is the increase of $ 5 million for the Court of Auditors of the Republic (CCR), an institution responsible for controlling the management of state funds.
In addition, a budget increase of $ 7 million for the Attorney General’s Office, which will allow a prosecutor to be placed in each polling station during the elections, as explained by prosecutor Raúl Melara before the Commission of ‘Treasury.
A total of $ 5 million was increased for the Office of the Attorney General for Human Rights and the Attorney General’s Office.

The Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) in recent months had requested a $ 5 million budget boost to hold the 2019 elections under the COVID-19 protocols. The Assembly approved this increase.
It also increased $ 20 million in the budget of the University of El Salvador, which will help to provide more scholarships, free fees and online classes.
Budget reductions
However, according to deputies to comply with the increases, reductions were made for a total of $ 450,120,000 in different portfolios, including: the Presidency of the Republic is reduced by $ 47,100,000; 27 million in Finance and 27,600,000 in Defense.
Parliamentarians also did not allocate the $ 22 million requested by the National Administration of Aqueducts and Sewers (CAMINA) for compensation.
Also, the Presidency of the Republic, CEPA, National Charity Lottery, CIFCO and other institutions are reduced a total of $ 7,900,000 for propaganda.
In the same sense, another $ 25,600,000 was cut for consultancies in the National Register of Natural Persons, FISDL, Finance, CEL, CAMINA, among others.
With all these cuts, the budget gap of $ 1,342.2 million raised by the Government was reduced to $ 159 million.
