Update: The 2022 Call of Duty is not only a sequel to Modern Warfare, but will include a campaign after U.S. special forces fighting a covert war against Colombian drug cartels.
The new information comes from a VGC report, which corroborates the information first distributed today by Henderson, just below. Henderson’s information matches what VGC has heard from its own sources, according to the report, and adds the aforementioned details about the campaign. In addition, the nickname “Cortez” could be linked to Harrison Ford’s 1994 film Clear and Present Danger, which features a villain named Colonel Felix Cortez, and which also sees U.S. special forces deliver a covert war in Colombia.
Original: According to reports, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be the launch of Call of Duty for 2022.
Just below, you can see a claim from renowned leaker Tom Henderson related to Call of Duty / Battlefield, which appeared yesterday, September 13th. Modern Warfare 2019 from Infinity Ward.
Call of Duty: 2022 seems to have the code name of Project Cortez. It is expected to be a sequel to Modern Warfare 2019.September 13, 2021
In addition, Henderson claims that right now, Call of Duty 2022 will be developed under the code name “Project Cortez”. No, this has nothing to do with Crash Bandicoot’s evil Doctor Cortez, and it’s more likely that this won’t be the final name of the game when it launches next year.
Henderson’s information seems to match Activision publisher’s internal development schedule. Sledgehammer, Infinity Ward and Treyarch comprise the three key studios that are re-launching the Call of Duty games, and that the latest Infinity Ward game is Modern Warfare 2019, it is reasonable to expect that their next game Call of Duty will be launch next year in 2022.
Right now, we have Call of Duty: Vanguard which we are successfully waiting for later this year from the developer of Call of Duty WW2, Sledgehammer Games. Call of Duty’s upcoming adventure will take us back to World War II and come later this year on November 5 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
