Camera footage shows an exchange of gunfire that left a woman dead, a police officer injured in Nashville :: WRAL.com

– A 31-year-old woman has died and a Metro police officer is in stable condition recovering from a shooting north of Nashville.

Officer Baker, a 14-year Metro police veteran, made a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet Camaro.

Police said the car owner had six drug orders pending. After Baker approached the vehicle, he learned that the owner of the vehicle, the person with outstanding warranties, was not the person driving.

The video from the body camera shows the driver, who was identified as Nika Nicole Holbert, 31, fleeing Officer Baker, who then got into the car and was appraised.

After being appraised, Holbert grabs a gun and exchanges fire.

Both suffered gunshot wounds.

Officer Baker suffered a gunshot wound to the side of his torso and was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Subway police said Baker was in stable condition after being operated on in Vanderbilt.

Subway police confirmed Holbert was rushed to Skyline Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

The Tennessee Office of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
