HOUSTON – KPRC 2 has received a lot of emails, comments on social media and phone calls about confusion about the state’s new vaccine distribution concentration system, and a question continues to arise: can I make an appointment to visit a center that is not in the same county where I live?
The short answer is yes.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Monday there are no geographic restrictions on the centers Texas residents can visit. Thus, residents of Galveston County, Montgomery County, Fort Bend County, etc., can make appointments at any of the three centers that operate in Harris County.

The most likely problem people will encounter is scheduling an appointment.
“It took 3 hours,” Mac McClendon said, said Tuesday director of the Harris County Public Health Preparedness Office. “We opened it and the 8,000 vaccines have disappeared so quickly.”
McClendon said he’s not sure, but he hopes Harris County Public Health can get another 8,000-dose shipment to be administered next week. He said he is forced to wait for the news from Austin, as the state controls the distribution of the vaccine.
