Can my employer require that I have the coronavirus vaccine?

LYNCHBURG, Va. – While COVID-19 vaccines continue, people still have many questions, such as, “Can my employer require me to receive the COVID-19 vaccine?”

The short answer is yes.

According to a Lynchburg labor lawyer, the Committee on Equal Employment Opportunities has not yet been clarified.

However, if it is similar to the flu shot, employers might require you to get vaccinated.

However, your employer should make accommodation if you cannot be vaccinated due to religious or health exemptions.

“[Exempted employees] you should probably wear a mask while working or move away from certain people or have certain restrictions. There are some alternatives, “said John Falcone of Petty, Livingston, Dawson and Richards Law.

During this first phase, mainly health workers receive the vaccine.

Falcone said most health care providers already have a vaccination requirement.
