Captain Toad’s levels gained a cooperative boost for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

The four-player co-op now extends to Captain Toad’s Adventures

As a fan of the original Wii U, I’ve gone from vaguely waiting to play Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury “when is the right time” to want to play it right away in February and feel good about that option. I wasn’t mentally at that point until we saw what Bowser’s Fury it implied and learned that there would be co-op (albeit only for two players instead of the four-player hijinks of the main campaign).

That is all the change. And, interestingly, it is a trajectory similar to that of Pikmin 3 Deluxe – Another really great Wii U gem that I thought was worth getting back for its extra multiplayer compatibility.

That said, it looks like Nintendo is making an extra effort Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. As shown today in a game clip on Twitter, the updated Switch title will feature a four-player co-op in the Captain Toad puzzle levels. Do you remember? The lines for me are pretty blurry right now.

Toad levels a Super Mario 3D World on Wii U there was a solo issue (only for GamePad), but on Switch, Captain Toad will be joined by blue, green and yellow toads, assuming you have an IRL backup. “You’ll work together” to pick up Green Stars. (And by that I mean you’ll bother the hell between you).

This is certainly a small addition to the big scheme of 3D world, which many people will not use at all, but it is important. When it comes to re-editing video games, little touches always matter.
