A new Twisted Metal game is reportedly being developed that will coincide with Sony’s upcoming TV show. The series, which was previously restarted on PlayStation 3, is one of the oldest in the PlayStation portfolio, and while it never resonated with the European market, it is considered a cult classic in the United States.
The rumor, as is often the case these days, goes back to GamesBeat writer Jeff Grubb, who spoke as part of his premium Giant Bomb podcast. “I think Twisted Metal is up and running, but it can still be a long way off, so I think we’re soon,” he said, adding that the synergy between his TV and video game divisions “speaks of a change in strategy Sony’s biggest. ”
So can we expect to see the title during today’s PlayStation Showcase? “If they have Twisted Metal ready to show up, they could,” he joked. “But in any case, it seems that it is under construction, it seems that it is coming, and it seems that it does not imply [series creator] David Jaffe. ”The former PlayStation man had previously hinted at a title that would make fans“ lose their minds ”.
Assuming Grubb is accurate, it will be interesting to see what form this title takes, as the TV show is presented as a kind of “action comedy,” while the original games, particularly the PS2 version of Twisted Metal Black, they were quite dark and macabre. We’ve always heard that Twisted Metal would lend itself well to the actual battle, personally.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Twisted Metal has been mentioned by alleged industry experts. Earlier this year, Battlefield tipster Tom Henderson posted a picture of Sweet Tooth along with the words “2023”. There seems to be something going on, so the question is: how long will it take for this project to emerge?
