The Archdiocese of Managua (Nicaragua) reported this Sunday on the improvement of Cardinal Leopoldo Brenes Solórzano, 72, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday 27 August.
On this day the Archdiocese reported that the Cardinal had presented with a fever, that the condition was mild, and that the corresponding treatment had already begun.
“This afternoon, Fr. responding positively to the drug, ”notes a statement issued this Sunday, August 29th.
“Likewise the Lord Archbishop sent his thanksgiving to all the people of God, priests and consecrated persons,” the text adds.
Finally, the statement notes that the Cardinal asks everyone to “continue to pray for those who are suffering the effects of this pandemic and for the health personnel who unconditionally care for the sick.”
On Friday 27 the Archdiocese shared the following prayer to ask God for the health of Cardinal Brenes:
Lord Jesus, Supreme Shepherd of the flock,
we pray for that immense love
and mercy of your Sacred Heart,
look with mercy eyes on your beloved servant,
our dear Cardinal and Archbishop Leopoldo Brenes,
give him victory over this disease and that
may your precious blood be his defense and salvation.
By your grace that transforms the evil of disease
In these moments of consolation,
growth in faith and hope.
Amen.
