Nolan Sandblasted a two-run homer in the eighth inning and totaled 3 innings for the St. Louis Cardinals to win Saturday 6-4 over the Cincinnati Reds.
Paul DeJong added a lone home run for St. Louis, which has won three of four engagements and brought a game closer to the Reds in the wildcard ticket contest in the National League.
Cincinnati, who have lost four of their last six games, started the day a few percentage points below San Diego in the second wild-card dispute.
Alex Reyes, who had served as taper for much of the campaign, settled for the eighth chapter and took the win. Reis (7-8) received a punch and handed out a ticket.
Mexican Giovanny Gallecs was credited with his seventh save.
Sandblasted he reached 30 volleys in the season, finding a pitch from Lucas Sims (5-3), 1-0, and pushing Paul Goldschmidt. Sims admitted three hits and handed out a couple of strikeouts in one inning.
The Cardinals scored twice without outs in the sixth episode to tie 4-4.
