A Nolan Arenado trade could finally be getting in the spotlight.
The Cardinals are in talks with the Rockies over a deal that would bring the five-time All Star third baseman to St. Louis. Louis, according to major league sources. There is no close deal and the other players who could participate are not known.
Arenado, 29, would likely relinquish his no-trade clause to join the Cardinals and perhaps agree to withdraw his right not to participate after the 2021 season. The Rockies, to escape his 199-year guarantee millions of dollars over the next six seasons, they would almost certainly absorb at least one high-priced Cardinals veteran while receiving possible contracts.
League sources offered varied assessments of the location of the talks Thursday night.
