Cayetano Heredia Medicine is the first professional career licensed by Sunedu News

The Sunedu granted the license to the professional career of Medicine of the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) for a period of ten years, after verifying the existence of the Basic Conditions of Quality (CBC).

This is the first professional career in Peru to receive a degree. “It is a priority career, which has the character of public service and high impact on the life, safety or health of people,” said the National Superintendency of University Higher Education.

The entity recalls that, since 2007, it had not been verified in Peru whether the faculties or schools of Medicine complied with minimum quality standards, so that the evaluation of Medicine programs -which Sunedu implemented at the end of the ‘2019- represents a mechanism for the protection of individual and social well-being, which seeks to ensure comprehensive training for health professionals.

Given the specialization of these programs, the evaluation team is made up of expert medical professionals with extensive experience in university teaching and in processes of evaluation and academic accreditation.

What was evaluated?

The licensing of this program evaluated the suitability of the teaching profiles, the equipment of the laboratories according to the curricula of each program, the sufficiency of the clinical and socio-sanitary fields for the academic activities in the different levels of attention and the provision of biosecurity services for teachers and students, among other key aspects, in order to ensure adequate training for medical students.

The license granted to the UPCH undergraduate professional career will be valid for 10 years.
