A key advisory group for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is meeting Monday to study booster vaccines for Covid-19 vaccines for all eligible Americans.

The meeting of the CDC’s Vaccination Practices Advisory Committee comes after President Joe Biden said Friday that U.S. regulators are considering administering Covid booster shots five months after people finish their primary vaccines, raising the planned schedule for a third shot three months.

Scientists have harshly criticized the Biden administration’s push to widely distribute booster shots, saying the data provided by federal health officials is not convincing enough to recommend third-party shots to the majority of the U.S. population.

The Biden Administration has publicly said that the third doses will not go ahead without FDA approval and the ACIP vote.

The advisory group also plans to vote Monday on the full approval of the Pfizer Covf vaccine for Americans 16 and older.
