CES 2021: Netgear launches a 6-band 6E RAXE500 Wi-Fi router

Netgear today announced the launch of the Nighthawk RAXE500 three-band Wi-Fi router, which is Netgear’s first router to use updated Wi-Fi 6E technology. Wi-Fi 6E takes advantage of the new 6 GHz band, which contains no interference or congestion and allows speeds of up to 10.8 GB / s.

The 6E Wi-Fi spectrum is ideal for homes that use a large number of Wi-Fi-connected devices, as it allows networks to support more devices.

“The proliferation of Wi-Fi over the last few decades first highlighted the 2.4 GHz band and finally the 5 GHz band with Wi-Fi 4, 5, and 6,” said Phil Solis, director of IDC research. “As regulators around the world open up the 6 GHz band, 6E Wi-Fi networks will provide breathing room-enabled devices to use large channels even in dense, congested areas with higher average data rates and lower latency “.

The Nighthawk RAXE500 offers up to 200 percent more spectrum available than dual-band routers (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and, since there are few devices in the 6 GHz band, allows for lower latency. There are four 6 GHz streams, four 5 GHz streams, and four 2.4 GHz streams to reduce network congestion.

There’s a 1.8-bit quad-core processor at 64GHz on the Nighthawk RAXE500 along with a 2.5G Ethernet port and five additional Gigabit Ethernet ports.

Netgear plans to start selling the Nighthawk RAXE500 in the first quarter of 2021 and it will be available on the Netgear website for $ 600.
