Lake Champlain Chocolates recalls milk chocolate products due to possible strange objects, the company announced Friday. The famous Vermont business urged customers to discard all potentially affected products currently on the market from July 2020 to January 2021.
The affected products were distributed to retailers in the 50 states and to the three retail stores in Vermont.
The voluntary withdrawal was issued after a consumer reported finding fragile plastic parts in a finished product, the company said. To date, no consumer has reported adverse health effects due to this contamination.
After an initial investigation and with great caution, the company said it decided to remove all potentially affected products from a certain optimal date range for possible foreign objects.
There are a number of affected products, including various flavors from the company’s five-star bar, that could have been included in assortments of gift baskets, including Christmas selections, according to the company’s website.

The company says it is committed to quality products and consumer safety and is taking aggressive steps to avoid the need for future recoveries of its products.
The withdrawal has been notified to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
