In addition to being one of the most feared and powerful drug traffickers in Mexico, Joaquín el ‘Chapo’ Guzmán, 63, he has been married on three different occasions.
Criminologist Mònica Ramírez, who had the opportunity to interview on several occasions, described him as a man “addicted to women”, as quoted by ‘Infobae’.

Emma Coronel
The founder of the Sinaloa Cartel is currently married to Emma Coronel, a 31-year-old girl. whom she met when she was crowned queen of the Coffee and Guava Festival in Mexico.
Emma, who is the niece of the drug trafficker known as Nacho Coronel ‘, she was 17 when the ‘Chapo’, who by then was 52, became interested in her.
She recalled in an interview, in 2019, with ‘Telemundo’, that when she met the Mexican drug trafficker he was dancing with a girl and she was with her boyfriend. He assured that they both met in the middle of the track and “very nice he smiled at me”.
“What won me over best of him was his conversation, his way of treating me, he didn’t bring me great gifts or great things, he wins people over by the way he is and acts,” Colonel stressed in the interview.

After his wedding, held in Durango (Mexico), Emma has led a life full of luxuries. For example, for the birthday parties of the twin daughters he had with the capo he has come to spend up to half a million Mexican pesos (more than 88 million Colombian pesos).
The girls, called Maria Joaquina and Emaly, they are the only ones who can visit him in the U.S. prison, where he has been incarcerated since 2017.

Griselda Guadalupe López Pérez
Before Emma, the ‘Chapo’ was married to Griselda Guadalupe López Pérez, Better known as Karla Pérez Rojo, his second wife.
The marriage to the woman, born in 1959, took place in the mid-1980s. The couple had four children: Joaquim, Edgar, Ovid and Griselda Guadalupe.
Griselda had to live several tragedies after marrying the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel: he lost a son and was in prison.
In 2008, his son Edgar Guzmán López was killed, with more than 500 shots, by members of the Beltrán Leyva cartel, in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
Griselda said it was not the young man’s fault that he was the son of a drug dealer, and said at the time, in local media, that she was tired of being “pointed to her children as narcos. I have lost a child. for the wars they provoked. “
She was also arrested in 2012, according to the then Attorney General’s Office. He was in jail for a day because her financial records showed higher incomes than reported to the Treasury, however, she was released after making her statement, according to information from the Mexican media ‘Diario Canvi’.

Maria Alexandrina Salazar Hernández
Maria Alexandrina Salazar Hernández was the first wife of the ‘Chapo’, whom he met before he founded the Sinaloa Cartel.
The marriage with Alexandrina, who is now 62 years old, took place in 1977. Her family was also related to the world of drugs, more specifically to Héctor Luis ‘El Güero’ Palma Salazar, who was Guzmán’s partner.
The couple had four children: Alexandrina Giselle, César Guzmán Salazar, Iván Archivaldo and Jesús Alfredo. The latter two, like his mother, have been pointed out by US authorities to participate in a money laundering network of the Sinaloa Cartel.
In addition to being briefly detained by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), Mexico, in 2012 she was included in the United States list of persons with whom it is prohibited to do any kind of business, according with the ‘Univision’ medium.
This list also includes Griselda Guadalupe, the second wife of the Mexican drug trafficker.
