Charges are filed against the suspect in the murder of three young people on the grounds of Moisty Skate Park in Caguas

The suspect in the murder of three 19-year-olds last Monday, in the vicinity of Moisty Skate Park, in Caguas, was summoned today, Friday, after not being able to pay a millionaire bail for all the charges of murder and law of ‘Weapons that the Caguas prosecutor’s office has filed against him.

The Department of Justice has reported in a press release that Judge María Rojas Prim of the Court of First Instance of Caguas determined probable cause for arrest against William David Marcano Hernández, aged 47, for triple murder, attempted murder and violation of the Weapons Act.

The judge set a global bail of $ 2,750,000 against Marcano Hernandez, who was on the list of most wanted in the jurisdiction of Caguas by Puerto Rican police.

Marcano Hernández was sent to prison for failing to provide bail.

The facts go back to January 19, 2021 at night when five young people were inside the said park, which has been closed since 2013, when the defendant surprised them and shot them with a firearm killing three of them. Two managed to escape and were unharmed during the incident.

Marcano Hernández was charged with three violations of Article 93 (Murder); two charges under Article 93 (Attempted Assassination); a charge for violating section 6.05 (Carrying, Transporting, or Using Unlicensed Firearms); -five charges for 6.14 (Shoot or Aim Firearms).

However, the defendant confessed to having committed the acts. Marcano Hernández, who was wanted for a double murder in 2018 and violations of the Weapons Law, allegedly also confessed to being the perpetrator of this crime that occurred in the Bunker urbanization in Caguas. He also said that he was the perpetrator of a murder that took place in June 2020, in the Morales neighborhood of this municipality.

The investigation of this massacre in Caguas was in charge of the public prosecutor Ana María Martínez Orama in coordination with the agent Lizandra Aponte Rodríguez of the Division of Homicides of the Body of Criminal Investigations of Caguas of Negotiated of the Police of Puerto Rico.

The preliminary hearing was scheduled for February 8, 2021.
