Charlotte Johnson Wahl, the mother of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, died Monday night in a London hospital. He was 79 years old.
Johnson Wahl, a professional painter, died “suddenly and peacefully,” his family said in a statement to the Telegraph.
His cause of death was not immediately revealed.

Johnson Wahl was known for her portrait, but she also painted cityscapes and landscapes.
At age 40, Johnson Wahl was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and the disorder affected his painting.
“I try to paint every day if I can, even though I have to go to the hospital a lot,” Johnson Wahl told the newspaper in a 2008 interview.
“I still manage to paint, even though suddenly my arm will make a totally involuntary movement and that almost makes me cry,” he said.
