The Mexican Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez has been chosen the best driver of the year for the directors of the teams through a survey granted by the first place to the British Lewis Hamilton, who won his first Formula One world title this season, matching the party of German Michael Schumacher.
Hamilton earned the designation last year with 169 points, and this year he has scored two more points while ‘Checo’ Pérez received 82 points.
In the survey, prepared by the Formula One website, he participated Cyril Abiteboul (Renault), Christian Horner (Red Bull), Simon Roberts (Williams), Andreas Seidl (McLaren), Guenther Steiner (Haas), Otmar Szafnauer (Racing Point), Franz Tost (AlphaTauri), Fred Vasseur (Alfa Romeo) and Toto Wolff (Mercedes).
Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto did not take part in the vote. in which each director had to choose a list of ten pilots. First place received 25 points, 18 second, 15 third, and so on.
Hamilton beat Dutchman Max Verstappen (156 points), winner of the last race of the World Cup, last Sunday in Abu Dhabi, and the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (132).
