Checo Pérez will start second in Imola; he defeated Verstappen

Checo Pérez will start with a soft rim; its direct rivals with the average in Imola

the Mexican Sergio Checo Pérez got his best rating in F1 during the Imola Grand Prix by finishing in second place with a time of 1: 14,446, just behind Lewis Hamilton who took pole for the Emilia Romagn Grand Prixa.

Checo Pérez surprised on the second day of activities and managed to place only behind the world champion, Who recorded a time of 1: 14.411. Tapatío managed to advance to Q3 after which he lived in Bahrain, where he was eliminated in Q2. It is not the first time he qualifies second, he did it in Azerbaijan 2016. However, that occasion was sanctioned and he lost the first starting row. Until the closing of this edition, the RB16B has not been sanctioned for any technical reason, so this will officially be his best starting position in F1.

Czech placed sixth in the first round with 1: 15.395. While Vertappen reached the fourth position 1: 15.109.

During the second round of classification Pérez achieved 1: 14.716 placing in first place in the classification and ahead of the young Lando Norris, who was slower than the Czech by only 0.002 thousandths.

The third place of the evening lived in Emilia Romagna was for Max Verstappen – that Czech beat the young Dutchman just in his second race at Red Bull, was not something that many had predicted.

The negative point of Sergio Pérez for this weekend at the Circuit of Enzo and Dino Ferrari will be leaving with the soft compound, as this would allow him less time on the track during his first stint – although on the other hand it is Checo Pérez, a rider who has stood out for his rubber handling.

But not everything is negative when coming out with the softest rim, as with this Czech you will be able to hunt down Hamilton with a good start and the fastest tire in the first laps. However, if Perez fails to overtake Lewis at peak length, each lap will become more complicated, due to the greater wear of the rubber – which also degrades faster if you follow in the footsteps of a another act.

An interesting start to the competition is in Imola, with the two Red Bulls – in a different strategy – fighting against the world champion. Since Mexico 2018 that Red Bull did not have its first two performances in the top three starting positions.

Pérez will look to get on the podium after his presentation on this circuit in 2020 where he finished sixth after starting 11 with Racing Point – it would be his first with a basic income.

The race in Italy will take place at 8:00 a.m. Central Mexico time.

Checo Pérez is in fifth place in the F1 World Drivers’ Championship with 10 points.
