Child dragged under Peloton’s treadmill in a terrifying video

Federal regulators released a terrifying video of a child being dragged under a Peloton Tread + film, as it warned consumers with children and pets to stop using the exercise machine immediately.

The video shared by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Saturday showed a young boy playing near a Platoon Tread + when the ball he uses gets caught under the computer and gets under it.

In the clip, the boy struggles to break free from the $ 4,295 exercise machine.

The security commission said Saturday it is aware of 39 incidents with the tape, including one child who died.

“CPSC staff believes the Tread + Platoon poses serious risks to children from abrasions, fractures and death,” the agency said.

“In light of multiple reports of children trapped, nailed and thrown under the back roller of the product, CPSC urges consumers with children at home to stop using the product immediately.”

Peloton customers who want to continue with the machines should keep them in a locked room away from children and pets, as well as disconnect them when not in use and keep all other objects away from them, according to the agency.

Meanwhile, Peloton said in a statement that the security commission’s warning was “inaccurate and misleading.”

“Peloton is disappointed that, despite its collaborative offerings, and despite Tread + complying with all applicable security standards, CPSC was unwilling to engage in meaningful discussions with Peloton before issuing an inaccurate press release and misleading, “the statement said. .

He added that “there is no reason to stop using Tread + as long as all safety warnings and instructions are followed.”
