CHP spins Van to end 100-mile chase from Oceanside to Pacoima – NBC Los Angeles

Officers chased the driver of a van on Southern California freeways from northern San Diego County to the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles before a CHP officer sent the vehicle into the Pacoima area.

The chase began at Oceanside and headed north on Highway 5. It was not immediately clear what led to the chase.

He entered the downtown Los Angeles area around 3:30 p.m. and arrived at the Cahuenga Pass between Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley ten minutes later. The driver continued on Highway 101 in a northerly direction and passed on Highway 170.

The driver appeared to be waving a gun from the window in the East Los Angeles area. She then dropped the weapon on Highway 170, where officers recovered it.

A CHP officer executed a PIT maneuver a few miles later, turning the van over and ending the chase at Pacoima. The driver immediately surrendered and was arrested.
