Chris Pine is in talks to star in “Dungeons and Dragons”, an adaptation of Paramount and Eon’s popular fantasy roll-flaming game.
Rachel McAdams and Jason Batman starrer “Game Night” is directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daly, and is based on a screenplay by Michael Cleo.
Paramount co-produced and co-sponsored the film “Dungeons and Dragons” with Hasbro and Eon. eOne distributes the film in the UK and Canada, while Paramount handles rollout in other parts of the world. The release date has recently been pushed back from November 2021 to May 27, 2022.

“Dungeons and Dragons” was first adapted into a 2000 film for New Line Cinema. The film, starring Justin Valen, Marlon Wines and Jeremy Irons, was a critical and commercial failure.
The upcoming iteration has been going on for years. It was originally set up at Warner Bros. and was considered for the lead role by Ansel Elcord. At that time, Goosebumps filmmaker Rob Letterman began directing. After a legal battle between Sweetypee Entertainment and Hasbro over ownership rights, the film was moved to Paramount. Chris McKay will head the film in 2019 to replace Goldstein and Daly.
Pine will be seen next with Calcutt in the superhero adventure “Wonder Woman 1984”, revisiting his role as Wonder Woman’s romantic Steve Trevor. The sequel to the 2017 smash hit “Wonder Woman” will be released on December 25 on HBO Max and US. Debuts in theaters. She is currently working on Olivia Wilde’s upcoming film “Don’t Worry Darling”. The psychological thriller also stars Florence Buck and Harry Styles.
