Chris Pine starrer ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ for Paramount, eOne

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daly – both behind the new line sleeper hit Game Night – The feature is set to run based on the popular fantasy role-playing game. Goldstein and Daly wrote the latest version of the script based on an earlier draft by Michael Cleo.

The plot details are kept under the chain mail, but the game is known for its war games, treasure hunts, campaigns, friendships and fortune-tellers, all in one system that connects humans, elves, orcs and hundreds of other creatures. The game popularly uses diversified dice in the game and is overseen by a hostel called Dungeon Master.

The game, controlled by Hasbro, was previously adopted by New Line in 2000. The film starred Jeremy Irons. In recent years, the property has been at the center of a legal battle over its film rights, with Warner Bros. apparently settling in 2015 to make a film that Ansel Elcord once made into a film in initial negotiations for the star. However, the rights to Paramount, which had a production and distribution contract with Hasbro, eventually came to an end.

Hasbro / Eon and Paramount co-produce and finance Eon distribution in the UK and Canada, and Paramount distributes in other parts of the world. Jeremy Latzm is preparing for the 2019 eOne acquired by Hasbro.

Pine, cut by CAA, John Carabino and Gentleler & Kelly, is currently in production at Olivia Wilde’s 1950s thriller Don’t worry darling, Made by the new line.
