Chrissy Teigen and John Legend know how to make an entry, even when it’s unexpected.

And on Tuesday, the founder and Legend of Cravings crashed the virtual cooking segment of his mother Vilailuck ‘Pepper’ Teigen today.

Wearing nothing but a towel, the television personality toy appeared in the frame to greet quickly while her mother was cooking, and then returned a little to Pepper’s hair.

Pepper appeared on the morning show to promote her new cookbook, The Pepper Thai Cookbook, demonstrating how to make fried spaghetti with Thai chili paste.

Everything seemed to be going as planned until the very excited couple crashed the segment. “We’re so excited for mom … I just wanted to say hello to everyone,” the kitchen enthusiast shared.

“John is dressed, Chrissy is not,” remarked Savannah Guthrie. And later, Al Roker joked, “I’d like John to bring a towel,” which made other hosts Carson Daly and Sheinelle Jones laugh.

Pepper was a good sport throughout the process and continued her recipe before Chrissy made another appearance, this time entering the role of stage mother.

Looking behind the lens, he seemed to notice that his mother’s hair needed some maintenance. He quickly stepped in to double as his glam platoon, which made Pepper laugh and commented, “We had to do our own hair today.”

Roker asked, “Do you always do it when you cook?” to which Pepper replied, “He loves to make fun of me and play with me.”

And throughout the interview she revealed that she received her nickname when she and Ron Teigen (Chrissy’s father) ran a local tavern in Washington.

I always make my own food, so spicy, so hot. My Thai name is hard to pronounce, so they gave it to me [the name] Pepper.

She also added that the host of Chrissy’s Court inspired her to make a cookbook after finding success with her own series Cravings.

“I learned a lot from her, not from cooking, but from how to make the cookbook because I had no idea.”

Both Legend and Teigen congratulated Pepper on her accomplishment with tribute publications and lined up her vacation rental with photos of her over the years and a “congratulatory banner.”

And the book is dedicated to both her late parents and the couple’s son, Jack, who tragically lost at 20 weeks in late September due to partial placental abruption.

Pepper told WSJ magazine, “We talk about him every day. Luna talks about him every day and so it hurts. Every day we’re getting better … We’re getting a lot better and so is Chrissy.
