‘Clara White Mission is strong’

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Mission leaders Clara White on Sunday responded to allegations of lack of transparency by CEO Ju’Coby Pittman over an outbreak of COVID-19.

“I am here to share with you today that Clara White Mission is strong. It’s strong, ”Pittman said at a news conference Sunday afternoon.

The press conference was held after five of the six members of the Clara White Mission Executive Committee resigned. A letter obtained from President Michelle Paul and signed by “resigning members of the Clara White Mission Executive Board” stated that Pitman did not inform the board of several employees who tested positive for COVID-19 until four days after it passed. Two staff members were hospitalized, including Pitman herself. The head of the mission, Keith Smith, died of the virus last month.

Announcements

At Sunday’s press conference, mission leaders said there was a slight delay in reporting COVID-19 cases to appropriate staff members, but it was unintentional. They said the mission remains solid and is ready to serve the homeless again.

Pittman said that, like others on the mission, he still mourns the loss of Smith.

He said the allegations are false, slanderous, detrimental and detrimental to the mission’s financial support.

The board members who intervened did not understand the process, and if they did not understand it, I think you need to ask questions before you try to take control and paralyze the impact of homeless food. Those of you who know me know that if I were out of the hospital, that wouldn’t have happened, ”said Pittman, who is also a member of Jacksonville City Council.

Announcements

Mission leaders said that as they move forward, they will continue to be as transparent as ever.

The mission requires everyone to wear masks and offers free vaccinations every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon.
