Trump has recently focused his energy on attacking Attorney General William Barr, calling him a “big disappointment”. Retweet A message suggesting that Bar should be fired immediately.
According to CNN, the president discussed the removal of the high-ranking attorney general at a meeting Friday morning. He is thought to have survived an earlier attempt to oust him following Mr Jiang’s intervention during the 2020 presidential election campaign.
But a source close to the AG told CNN that Trump could not be “intimidated”.
A Tweet, Trump wrote: “Before the election, why didn’t Bill Barr reveal the truth about Hunter Biden to the public. Joe lied on the podium, or nothing happened – the press confirmed.
The source told CNN that the public feud between Barr and Trump was like a “Cold War”. Bar is said to be “not one to bully and turn the other cheek.”
Unconcerned, the source revealed that “none of this matters – this is a sacked king. This is irrelevant to the course of justice and Trump’s electoral loss.”
This is not the first time Bar and Trump have clashed. Earlier this month, Trump told AG that the judiciary and the FBI had no evidence of widespread fraud in the 2020 election.
While Trump is said to be weighing in on whether to sack him a month before the end of his term, Barr is also considered considering leaving early.
According to The New York Times, Barr is considering resigning before January 20.
