CNN’s Don Lemon won Twitter on New Year’s Eve (again)

Aaround the world, New Year’s Eve is celebrated with fireworks, champagne and festivities. On Twitter, however, New Year’s Eve is celebrated by commenting on drunken jokes from CNN’s anchors.

Don Lemon, host of CNN, was in Nashville for the holidays and once again got into the fun of what no one should do while he was working. Lemon, who was co-organizing the countdown with Brooke Baldwin, surprised the audience (and his co-host) with a “big ad” that was “somewhere” in his body. He then revealed a Lemon 2021 tattoo on his forearm.

Not sure if it was a temporary mark or a permanent reminder that he was very good at his job, or maybe he threw his hat in the ring for the presidency? Whatever the brand, Twitter commenters loved it:

If it’s a permanent tattoo, it wouldn’t be particularly surprising to former fans of CNN’s New Year’s coverage. Lemon famously got drunk and pierced his ear on New Year’s Eve 2016, before making a notable dispute about his love life. When it sounded like 2020, the hashtag #DrunkDonLemon was a trend on Twitter, prompting Lemon to declare out loud, “I’m not drunk, but whatever.” He then went on to play with puppies, singing, dancing and generally acting like the fun of the party while reporting live.

Twitter fans were happy to get him back to work:

Of course, it wasn’t just Lemon who drank at work. Anderson Cooper of CNN was joined by Andy Cohen, a Bravo TV personality, to host the news channel’s coverage for the third year in a row from New York’s Times Square. They started drinking early in the evening, with Cohen offering Cooper and guests shots of tequila and Jägermeister. Naturally, as the night progressed, things became rougher and more fleshy.

They even pulled back with rapper 50 Cent, though Cooper was barely able to stay calm:

At one point, Cooper, an Emmy-winning journalist, asked the question that has affected many baristas around the world: “What is Jäger?”
