Coca-Cola will cut more than 2,000 jobs, including 1,200 in the U.S.

Coca-Cola will cut nearly 2,200 jobs worldwide, and 1,200 jobs are expected to be cut in the United States due to declining sales amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The job cuts in the U.S. will account for nearly 12 percent of the nearly 10,400 jobs the company reported late last year. Five hundred jobs at the headquarters of the beverage corporation in Atlanta are also expected to be eliminated, CNN reported.

Voluntary and involuntary departure is expected, with a Coca-Cola cost of between $ 350 million and $ 550 million in compensation packages. The company also plans to move from 17 operating companies in four regions to just nine, according to CNN.

Coca-Cola has been preparing for the cuts since this summer, when it offered purchases to nearly 4,000 employees in Canada and the United States Earlier this year, the brand also announced it would stop Tab, Odwalla and Zico, the media reported.

It was reported that about 86,200 people worked at Coca-Cola last year.
