Traffic accident figures and alcohol poisoning are the most prevalent this Christmas Eve Thursday.
The director of the Center for Operations and Emergencies (COE), Juan Manuel Méndez reported this morning 30 accidents that occurred during the Christmas Operation “Commitment to Life 2020” that began yesterday Wednesday at 2:00 pm and culminated at 6:00 a.m. this Thursday.
Of these accidents, three people were killed in their vehicles. One of the dead happened in Boca Chica and the other two in Bonao. While those affected by the accidents add up to 48.
Within the number of accidents there are 22 motorcycles involved, being the highest number of vehicles affected. The others correspond to 7 light vehicles and two heavy vehicles.
On the other hand, Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata are the provinces that top the list for alcohol intoxication care from yesterday Wednesday until 6:00 this Thursday morning.
A total of 21 people were treated for alcohol intoxication and at least 26 people for food poisoning.
Méndez has considered that the number of accidents that were recorded in less than 24 hours is “very high” due to the fact that there was a greater flow of traffic for the Christmas holidays.
