Comedian Fuquan Johnson among three dead after alleged drug overdose in Venice; 4th person hospitalized

VENICE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) – Comicist Fuquan Johnson is dead, and it looks like he may be one of three people who suffered a fatal overdose on Friday night at a party in Venice.

The Los Angeles County Forensic Office on Sunday confirmed the death of the 43-year-old comic, but did not disclose the official cause. The coroner’s office did not say whether Johnson was one of the people who overdosed.

Officers responded to the scene of block 200 of Venice’s Carrol canal shortly after 12 a.m. Saturday and found three people dead, a Los Angeles police department spokesman told ABC7.

A fourth person, a woman, was rushed to a critical condition hospital, the LAPD spokesman said. According to TMZ, this person is comedian and model Kate Quigley.

Each of the four individuals reportedly suffered an overdose of fentanyl-bound cocaine.

After learning of Johnson’s death and Quigley’s hospitalization, fans and fellow comedians flocked to social media to express their condolences and support.

“Very sad to hear of the passing of my friend Fuquan Johnson,” a writer-producer Luke Barnett wrote on Twitter. “The happiest and happiest guy and a local icon of the North Hollywood community, RIP.”
