Contra Costa County opens COVID-19 vaccines to people 50 and older: NBC Bay Area

Contra Costa County is expanding COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to include those 50 and older, the county health department announced Monday.

The extension, which takes effect immediately, applies to people in that age group who live or work in the county, regardless of whether they have any underlying illness, the health department said.

An increase in vaccine supply allowed the county to open up requirements for more people, the health department said.

“We look forward to the next few months when we can end vaccine eligibility, when everyone is eligible,” Diane Burgis, chair of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, said in a statement. “There are more and more doses of the vaccine every week and we hope this trend continues.”

Those who meet the vaccination requirements can request an appointment with the county by filling out this form or by calling 833-829-2626.
