A ghost goal and a penalty claimed by Sant Lluís, are the plays that aroused the controversy at the Alfonso Lastras stadium
The controversy is still present in the MX League, now it has moved to the Alfonso Lastras stadium, where in less than 45 minutes of the game between Atlético de Sant Lluís and Toluca there were two controversial plays that could have changed course of the encounter between lions and devils.
In the 8th minute, the controversy tilted in favor of the Devils after in a corner kick, Toluca’s offensive ended in the nets of Axel Werner, who stopped the ball, but left in doubt whether the ‘spherical completely overcame the goal of Atlético de Sant Lluís.
The shot from Miguel Barbieri, who jumped between two defenders of Potosí, came out with little power, but took Werner by surprise.
The Argentine goalkeeper could not hold the ball of first intention, so he used his body to contain the header, which caused him to barely avoid the goal, in the middle of the goal line.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, FC’s VAR was singled out as being the problem as they were called off the pitch after 80 minutes.
Atlètic de Sant Lluís also had a dubious play in their favor throughout the match. The inhabitants of Potosí demanded in the 11th minute, a hand inside the area of the Devils. Like the play in which the ball allegedly overcame the goals of the white team-the central referee did not rule any penalty.
