Corbin Burnes of the Milwaukee Brewers and Josh Hader closed the Indians in the ninth MLB season record

CLEVELAND – Milwaukee combined Corbin Burnes teamed up with reliever Josh Hader to break the ninth baseball record this season, breaking the record set when pitchers began pitching over 1884 while the Brewers beat the Cleveland Indians by 3-0 on Saturday night.

Burnes scored 14 with 115 pitches in eight innings, achieving a perfect match until the seventh while dominating the Indians, who were not reached for the third time in 2021. This time it was for Burnes, who has become a candidate by Cy Young. while the brewers flee with NL Central and Hader, one of the game’s best lockers.

Right-hander Burnes controlled from the start, eliminating 11 of his first 14 batters and retiring the first 18 in order. After walking Myles Straw to start the seventh, the 26-year-old overtook the eighth thanks to diving catch from central Lorenzo Cain.

The people at Progressive Field whistled as Hader entered the ninth. He overtook Oscar Mercado and surprised him to start the entry. Then first baseman Jace Peterson entered brutal territory to get a second attack.

Hader ended up with the non-hitter getting Straw to take a throw to the ground to make history. The Brewers stormed the field to share hugs and five with a signature victory in their escape season.

Arizona rookie Tyler Gilbert had released the most recent non-hitter of the majors on August 14 and the Chicago Cubs released the only previous combined effort without a hitter on June 24. The other non-hitters this season were released by Joe Musgrove of San Diego. (April 9), Carlos Rodon of the Chicago White Sox (April 14), Wade Miley of Cincinnati (May 7), Spencer Turnbull of Detroit (May 18) and Corey Kluber of the Yankees (May 19).

This season there have also been a couple of seven-entry non-hitters, who don’t officially count in the Major League Baseball record book. Arizona’s Madison Bumgarner did so in the second game of a double to Atlanta on April 25, and five Tampa Bay pitchers combined to achieve the feat and closed out a double header against Cleveland on April 7. of July.

Most of these gems were released before MLB cracked down on the use of foreign sticky substances by pitchers in late June.
