After months, Florida state data on deaths attributed to COVID-19 is being broken down by county again, the Sun Sentinel first reported.
Originally, the Florida Department of Health published the data daily. But in early June, the state moved to weekly reports when the number of reported cases and deaths in Florida was reduced.
The Sun Sentinel report credits Dr. Jason Salemi, an associate professor of epidemiology at the University of South Florida, who discovered the publication of county-wide death data on Tuesday. The data comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
News4Jax examined the most recent report in the publication of this article. This report was published on Monday and included data from Sunday. The deaths include a total of 2,312 recorded in Duval County, 829 of which had been added to the state count since June 6, the last time the Department of Health issued a daily report before switching to weekly presentations.
