The substitute judge of the Third Court of Instruction of the National District accepted the request for extension of the Public Ministry to continue looking for evidence in the process that is being followed for corruption against Alexis Medina Sánchez and the other defendants of the Anti Pop Case.
Magistrate Yanibel Rivas made the decision after accepting a petition filed by the heads of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), Wilson Camacho and Yeni Berenice Reynoso.
Likewise, the judge varies the pre-trial detention for house arrest of the defendants Francisco Pagán Rodríguez and Achilles Alejandro Christopher, former director general and former director of inspection of the Office of Supervising Engineers of the State (Oisoe), respectively, as well as Julián Esteban Suriel Suazo, who will be collaborators in the investigation of the Pop case.
The court also maintained the pre-trial detention of Fernando Rosa, former director of the Reformed Company Heritage Fund (Fonper); Wacal Vernavel Méndez Pineda and José Dolores Santana Carmona.
He ordered the maintenance of the measure of coercion of the accused Carmen Magalys Medina Sánchez, sister of Alexis Medina Sánchez and former administrative vice president of the Fonper, Lorenzo Wilfredo (Freddy) Hidalgo Núñez, former Minister of Public Health and former Comptroller General Rafael Antonio Germosén. Alexis Medina’s mandatory review was known last week and he remained in prison.
