COVID-19 in Puerto Rico: Health reports 12 deaths and 1,499 additional positive cases

The report from the Department of Health on Wednesday reported 12 deaths from COVID-19, while 827 confirmed cases, 265 probable and 407 additional suspects were recorded, for a total of 1,499 new positive cases in tests to detect the coronavirus, in samples taken from March 29 to April 12, 2021.

There are 445 people hospitalized, 39 more than in Tuesday’s report.

Among those hospitalized are 403 adult patients, 18 more than the day before. There are 42 pediatric cases, 21 more than in Tuesday’s report, implying that they doubled.

There are 87 adult patients in intensive care, six more than the day before, and four pediatric cases, two more than the day before. While in ventilator there are 52 adult patients, three less than in Tuesday’s report. There are also three pediatric ventilator patients, two more than the day before.

A total of 2,174 people were reported dead by Covid-19, 12 more than in Tuesday’s report.

The reporting of deaths may vary to the extent that the processes of recording and coding the causes of death occur, which could take several days.
