DETROIT – The Wayne County Public Health Division is scheduled to reschedule the vaccines on Tuesday, Jan. 19 and Wednesday, Jan. 20 due to depletion of the supply of vaccines received from the state of Michigan, according to county health officials.
The Wayne County Department of Public Health will individually notify people who have an appointment for vaccines in doses currently scheduled for those two days.

The rescheduled vaccinations will be conducted at the new Wayne County vaccination site within the Vista Tech Center of Schoolcraft College located at 18600 Haggerty Road in Livonia.
Reprogramming affects approximately 1,400 people, mostly health workers, lifeguards and essential workers who are part of the Phase 1A group on the vaccination priority list.
People scheduled to receive their second dose or those who will be vaccinated at a local hospital, nursing home, or long-term care center will not be affected.
Wayne County has to reschedule and relocate its vaccination site because it has run out of supply of the COVID-19 vaccine manufactured with Pfizer.
According to Wayne County, the state stopped supplying the Pfizer vaccine for the first doses and, for now, only supplies the Wayne County Public Health Division with the Modern vaccine for new first doses.
“Modern vaccine doses should be treated differently from the Pfizer vaccine. The county will not receive the supply of the state’s Modern vaccine until some Tuesday, making it too late to manage the scheduled vaccines that day or Wednesday, ”read a Wayne County statement on the shortage of supply .
Wayne County vaccinations for Phase 1A people and Phase 1B front-line essential workers will resume Thursday at Schoolcraft College’s VistaTech Center.
Additional vaccination sites will be announced as more vaccines become available in the state of Michigan, depending on the county.
“We ran out of the Pfizer vaccine on Saturday afternoon,” Dr. Mouhanad Hammami, Wayne County Health Strategist. “We know this is frustrating and we apologize for the inconvenience. Our team works hard to vaccinate as many residents as we can, but the shortage of supply in the state of Michigan remains a challenge. “
Month: Michigan counties canceling appointments amid shortage of COVID-19 vaccines
Currently, Wayne County vaccinates health care workers, EMS and essential employees in Phases 1A and 1B.
Those over the age of 65 or older should schedule a vaccine through their health care system, not the county health department.
Teachers ages 12 to 12 will receive vaccines through their school districts in collaboration with Wayne RESA.
Other Phase 1B groups must register online or through their employers to request a one-hour vaccination appointment with the Wayne County Department of Public Health.
