The most recent positivity rate in the entire city exceeds 6.5%.
Efforts could help change the trend, even some vaccination sites open 24 hours a day.
The two mega venues that will open Sunday will be open 24 hours a day, one at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park and the other at Bath Gate Industrial Park in the Bronx.
On Saturday, the city’s health commissioner toured one of three community vaccination centers at an institute in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.
When the vaccine is available to the general public, they can vaccinate up to 2,000 people a day.
12 community locations will open over the weekend. They are only by appointment on the city’s websites for eligible groups, which right now include health workers, residents, and residence staff.

By the end of the week, the city will have 160 vaccination sites open in total, in all five districts.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo estimates that with the vaccine available, it will be April before all eligible groups who want a vaccine can get one.
Qualifiers can register for a vaccine on the city’s website. From Monday, a telephone reservation system will also be in operation.
