There have been incredible scientific advances in the last twelve months. Never before have vaccines been conceived, developed, tested and approved at this rate. But with the NHS on the verge of breaking down and after days of alarming Covid-related deaths, this week there was a new urgency in the government’s vaccination efforts.
The scientific editor of the Observer, Robin McKie, explain Anushka asthana that scientists work 24 hours a day in laboratories to make doses of the vaccine and that after high-profile problems with testing and screening systems, there can be no excuses for preventing the vaccine from being deployed.
